Emmet O’Sullivan ’25 Publishes Children’s Book on Growing Up With Diabetes

Last month, junior Emmet O’Sullivan ’25 published Drew Discovers Diabetes, a children’s book about a dinosaur living in Dinoyork who thrives after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes thanks to the support of his parents and community.

O’Sullivan, who was himself diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 13, wrote the book last summer and says he wanted it to reflect his own experiences while empowering young people living with the condition to take control of their health. Proceeds from Drew Discovers Diabetes are going to the Diabetes Research Institute.

“A big emphasis for the book is not only empowering people with the condition, but also spreading awareness to everyone,” said O’Sullivan. “It’s a book for everyone to read, to know the symptoms so that they don't catch them too late.”
