2019 Update

A Record Number of Graduates

In the spring of 2019, a record 41 students graduated from REACH. A phased, three-year expansion that began in 2016 has increased the total number of students in the Program from 100 to 150. In addition to the 150 students in grades 6 through 8, the program also serves an additional class of students who are preparing to enter high school.

20 of the young men who graduated this spring will matriculate at Regis this fall (another record), joining 44 other REACH alumni who are current Regians.

The 21 other 2019 REACH graduates will enroll at one of the following high schools: Fordham Prep, Xavier, Loyola, Cristo Rey New York, and Archbishop Molloy. These institutions awarded REACH graduates more than $1.8 million in scholarships and financial aid.

Expanded Alumni Support

In 2018, the position of Director of Graduate Support was established, a need that was identified in the Regis Strategic Plan. In a short time, Russell Quinones ‘09 has greatly enhanced the Program’s engagement with REACH alumni and ongoing support as they move through high school, college, and beyond.

A New Director

Doug Eickman ’05 this summer succeeded Fr. Mario Powell, SJ as the Director of the REACH Program. The longtime Dean of Mathematics for REACH, Doug possesses an incredible passion for the Program and an exciting vision for its future. We are grateful to Fr. Powell for his four years of leadership at REACH, and we wish him the best of luck in his new role as President of Brooklyn Jesuit Prep, a Jesuit middle school for inner city youth founded in 2003 named after the historic Brooklyn Prep.
