Paul Frimpong-Manso ’28 Wins National Championship in Declamation

Paul Frimpong-Manso ’28 won first place in declamation at the National Catholic Forensic League’s Grand National Tournament in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, leading an outstanding showing by Regis's Hearn Speech and Debate Society.

As a team, Regis was one of five schools to receive the Daniel S. Masterson Jr. Award for Excellence in Forensics, presented for strong all-around performance. Regis was also one of five schools to receive the Founders Award for Speech. Eighteen members of the Hearn qualified for the tournament.

In addition to Frimpong-Manso, several Regians turned in exceptional individual performances. CJ Ackermann ’29 placed seventh in declamation, while Aidan Shrekgast ’27 reached the semifinals in student congress and Luca Pellizzoni ’26 reached the semifinals in reading. In extemporaneous speaking, Danny Lobato ’26 reached the quarterfinals and Johnny Germak ’26 reached the octofinals. The duos of Desmond Augustine ’26 and Sam Lauriello ’26 and Phil Liew ’26 and Will Napoli ’26 had strong performances in the doubles competition of public forum debate.
