Academic Enrichment

Science Research Project

The Science Research Project course at Regis High School is an intensive program designed to give students interested in scientific research the opportunity to individually investigate projects of their own design. Regis sophomores that demonstrate exceptional interest and initiative can apply to take SRP as an additional class beyond their required course of study that can continue through senior year. This independent class is research- and lab-oriented, requiring students to study under mentors inside and/or outside of Regis.

Student Historian Project

This elective course offers sophomores who demonstrate a passion and aptitude for the study of history the opportunity to engage in an advanced research project, using significant archival and academic research. Students will spend the first part of the course learning the necessary research and writing skills before choosing a topic and using the skills they've learned to thoroughly research that topic. The capstone project is a presentation of their research to the wider school community.

Global Education

Students at Regis have many opportunities to serve and learn from people beyond the New York area. We offer a wide range of trips across five continents for service, cultural exchange, and learning. These trips, which take place during the summer or other breaks from school, complement our academic and Ignatian formation programs.

Global Scholars

Global Scholars is a selective three-year program that aims to give students a deepened understanding of the global dimensions of a Jesuit education and bring together the existing global threads of their Regis experience. Students apply to enter the program in sophomore year and engage as a group through colloquia on global issues, guest speakers, international trips, spiritual reflection, and capstone projects. Students receive recognition upon completion as an Ignatian Global Scholar through the Jesuit Schools Network and receive a special designation on their college transcript highlighting their participation in the program.

J-Term

J-Term allows Regians to delve into interdisciplinary topics outside the framework of the academic year. J-Term at Regis takes place each June and offers intensive-study opportunities in subjects chosen by teachers. It also allows faculty members to explore alternative teaching techniques, which could later be integrated in the standard Regis curriculum to improve the student learning experience.
