Tommy Barone ’21 Wins Rhodes Scholarship
Tommy Barone ’21, a senior at Harvard University, has been named a 2025 Rhodes Scholar. Barone is the second Regian to be so honored, following Brian Reyes ’17, a 2021 Rhodes Scholar.
Barone, who grew up in Little Falls, N.J., and served as the Debate President of the Hearn during his senior year at Regis, is one of 32 American Rhodes Scholars. His academic work has contemplated intellectual history and political rhetoric, policy, and decision-making.
"Regis in many respects was totally life-changing for me," said Barone. "I think Regis almost stands alone compared to other schools in as much as it prepares you. So I feel very, very lucky to have had that background coming into college."
Barone is pursuing a BA in social studies at Harvard and serves as the Editorial Chair of the Harvard Crimson, where he won first place for editorial writing in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards for collegiate journalism. He has interned at the national politics desk of ABC News and intends to pursue a career in journalism. At Oxford, he plans to study for an M.Phil. in History.
