Community Gathers at Christmas Tree Lighting

On Friday, December 9, the Regis community gathered for one of its favorite traditions: the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Over 550 Regis students, faculty, staff, family members, and friends rang in the season with true holiday spirit, joining in the Auditorium for prayer and Christmas-themed musical performances by students from Regis and Convent of the Sacred Heart. After processing into the Quad for the blessing and lighting of the tree, hot chocolate and holiday treats were enjoyed by all in the Cafeteria.

“This ceremony certainly embodies the Ignatian meditative principle of engaging all our senses – holding lit candles and viewing the anticipated lighting of the grand tree, to reading from the prophets and hearing cherished carols, all capped off by tasting delicious treats,” said Director of Mission & Identity Fr. James Ferus, SJ. “It’s no wonder this evening is a highlight of Regis’ holiday calendar, since it warms our hearts and fosters a true spirit of Christmas within our school family.”
