General Position Description
Regis High school seeks a mission-driven and experienced individual to play a pivotal role on the Development Team. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder with a proven track record of achievement and a demonstrated aptitude for leadership. The Director of Planned Giving and Major Gifts Officer focuses on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors to help secure leadership gifts to the Annual Fund, major gifts to capital campaigns, and planned gifts to our endowment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects (Regis alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, and friends of Regis), cultivating strong relationships that lead to significant Annual Fund, capital campaign, and planned gifts. This requires regular contact through face-to-face visits, written correspondence, phone calls, and events (in NY and beyond).
  • In conjunction with the Annual Fund Director and other frontline fundraisers, engage in the analysis of and outreach to the school’s biggest Annual Fund donors at key moments during the fundraising calendar with the goal of renewing and upgrading gifts in donor portfolios.
  • Inspire and support fundraising volunteers in their efforts to help secure gifts to capital campaigns.
  • Contribute to a data-driven culture by documenting meetings, interactions, and correspondence with donors in the donor database, emphasizing the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, thoroughness, and confidentiality.
  • Develop and implement strategies for securing planned gifts and recruiting new members to the Regis legacy society, including arming other front-line fundraisers with the tools to conduct conversations about estate planning. Execute and help refine a meaningful stewardship program for engaging members of the Regis legacy society.
  • Serve as both the lead administrator in the receipt of all estate gifts and as the face of planned giving to the Regis community.
  • Collaborate with other frontline fundraisers in developing comprehensive engagement strategies and stewardship programs for all major donors.
  • Maintain consistent and high-quality communications with donors by identifying specific donor interests and providing a steady stream of news about Regis—all with the goal of deepening donors’ connection to the school.
  • Travel to visit donors around the country.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of and a passion for Regis’s mission of educating young men in the tradition of the Society of Jesus including a respect for and understanding of Regis’s Jesuit and Catholic culture.
  • Ability and confidence to speak to a wide range of individuals, with a proven success record calling on the highest-level executives and community leaders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences, as well as responding to donor inquiries.
  • Ability to collaborate with development teammates and build relationships with colleagues throughout the organization to advance the fundraising process.
  • Initiative, persistence, and the ability to actively seek and deepen current donor relationships and to forge new ones.
  • Strategic, creative, and analytical skills.

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in progressively responsible positions is required. A proven track record in major gift fundraising and leadership experience in a development team is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Raiser’s Edge Donor Management System, along with Microsoft Office and Google platform products, is preferred.
