Regis Student Earns Gold Medal at 44th International Chemistry Olympiad
U.S. Olympic athletes aren't the only Americans earning gold medals this week. This past Monday, Christopher Hillenbrand '15 was awarded a gold medal at the 44th Annual International Chemistry Olympiad. Hillenbrand, who will begin his sophomore year at Regis this Fall, was the youngest member of the U.S. Team, and the only one to bring home a coveted gold medal.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level. Nations around the world send a team of four students who are tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination. Hillenbrand acknowledges that receiving a gold medal has far exceeded what he thought possible. “I never thought I would come this far. It’s like I’m in the middle of a dream, and I can’t wake up.”
