Regis Rep Enchants With Its Production of A Midsummer Night's Dream
The Regis Repertory captivated audiences with its production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream during three performances from December 12–14. Set in Athens and the surrounding forest, the Shakespeare comedy features a love quadrangle, meddling fairies, and poor players who struggle to put on a performance that will please their royal patrons. The Rep’s rendition brought contemporary music and campy mirth to the classic play.
The production — led by Regis Rep moderator Ms. Gena Reisig and directed by Ms. Maura Malloy — showcased the skills of actors from Regis and actresses from six other local schools.
"The Regis Rep connects students from all grades and schools to create one beautiful show” said Matthew Colandrea ’25, who played Puck. “While I adore the electric feeling of going out on stage and becoming whimsical characters, through the Rep I’ve met many of my closest friends and had the privilege of working alongside them. Midsummer and all the shows mean so much to me, and I cannot wait to do one last musical with everyone in the spring."
The success of the performances was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the stage crew, set designers, musicians, tech crew, and stage managers.
“We were sold out almost every night, to the point that we added seats and sold out again," said Ms. Reisig. "It was a joy to work with this tight-knit group of students and adults, and we can’t wait to get to work on our next production.”
